The following is an in-depth description of each of the areas, written by one of the scholars of our community.

AREA 1 - THE FIGURE HEAD
The figure head in a community - the Chief
The figure head in a family – the Father
The figure head of a province - President, of Municipal - Lord Mayor, of the Nation – President/ Prime Minister
In the church, it is the Bishops, Pastors, Fathers, Elders and Deacons.
They are all under the chief in a community. Because for most they belong to that community and serve in that community for a period of time.
A chief in a community can be recognised by what he wears. Symbols, like the pig task he wears around his neck, the palm leaf (Cycas) he sometimes carry in his hand, what he wears on his head, examples a leaf of special significant the words he says and decisions he makes.
He sees the future and thus makes an attempt to shape and mould the present for that future. By then he can assure himself to being part of that future, (whatever it may be). That is if the present future would during the time in the future-future, acknowledges his works of upbringing the future during his and their present past.

AREA 2 - THE TAGI/ WEEPING ( THE CRY)
The area signifies a “way we live our lives”. A way of life. It’s true of course things can change, or could one say, Time and Space could bring about change. Yet one cannot escape from the fact that life weeps for life. One lives to expect life’s provisions.
The Tagi/ Weeping carries a symbol truth. A man/ father weeps for life not only for himself but for his wife and children as well. A woman/ mother weeps for life not only for her own but for her children and also importantly for her lover. Her husband. A child/ the children must weep for life for his own/ her own/ theirs and also for their parents. For welfare and betterment of the family during their life time and also in their passing away into other worlds and other lives. To be together of in part/ separate lives. It is in this characteristics known as the cry/ weep / Ta Tagi from within that expresses continues life for them and for those that they have left behind. Especially the children thus we can say “we live the we live“. For in it there is Ta Tagi/ Weeping/ Cry.

AREA 3 - GODS
The unknown and unseen God, creator of the gods, their secret places, TABU(S), laws that governs the advancement of man to walk and live in part life of the God or gods, one chooses to serve and acknowledge.
Respect is the ultimate part for attainment to higher levels with their gods, and acts of god such as the might of hurricane for example are acceptance of man by the gods for their pursuit for the gods in a reference for the god(s) to choose to serve in reference and in dignity.

These are God given natural alarms to assist man in his search for higher glory in the hope of assuring oneself faith-resting in the ultimate unknown and unseen God, as he completes his work in serving his god whether it be the god of Thunder, Rain, Hurricane or Earthquake with the highest degree of reference and performance.
For some, that they never dawn. Thus their search for the ultimate and unseen God continues. The ultimate destiny is to feel somehow the awesome presence of this unknown/ unseen God. To them it is a great reward. To God by them it is the ultimate God made known in a small way. A dual acceptance as rewards for the server, his gods and the unknown/ unseen God

AREA 5 - TRADITIONAL CULTURE PRACTISES AND VALUES
A) FISHING PRACTISES
Our Traditional Cultural practices have values. These values ( then values within these cultural practices) can only be achieve by thorough adherence to the laws of such cultural practices or else failure or fall short to attainment.
These values are used to bring about recognition as in the making of high level ( Big and Small) celebrations / ceremonies.
B) FARMING PRACTICES FOR VALUABLE CROPS SUCH AS YAMS, TARO AND KAVA

C) VALUE ANIMALS
Pig is a valued animal in most communities. Respected is paid when rearing it. How it is reared gave it extra value. Thus “Pig” can become a secret and serious entity in ceremonies also. The quality and quantity of Pigs given to a named ceremony can determine the size and scale of a ceremony.
Today as life’s path expands to engage in other areas and professions, communities and societies tend to imprecision for ease and quicker practices with the view and believe that value is maintain whether it be in trade or in ceremonies. Therefore, cattle are brought into the picture of community and island ceremonies. Cattle serves its purpose in today many societies.
A) FISHING PRACTISES
- CATCHING FLYING FISH- using outrigger canoe and scoop net
- LOBSTER ( Gray Fish) TRAPPING with locally made pots
- a). Fishing For Deep Sea Fishes, for Example, Snappers, Groupers using locally braided fishing lines and hooks made from shells and animal bones.
b). Fishing For Oceanic ( Pelagic) Fishers, for Example, Tunas using hand braided fishing lines made from the young shoots of a cotton tree and lures ( Bait) from fish such as flying fish, mackerel and sea lilies. - Foraging For Reef Fishes and Fishing with Bamboo rods from shore bases and reef edges on low tides

AREA 6- GIRL PASSING PUBERTY ( PAOFAGA) - NOT A GIRL NOT YET A WOMAN
Most communities in the past until the last 60 years or so opt to be part of these once in a life time event.
“ As it happened may it continue down the centuries”.
This is a time when girls passing puberty a secretly kept in a secret place for a period until fit for admittance to societies. It is then that the man she is betrothed to can take her to his home/ house to be his wife/ woman.
The traditional cultural process to which hides her as she passes puberty to being whisked away by the most awaited lover is respected and in most islands in Vanuatu is still practice.
Traditional culture change and adaptation has somehow nullify the traditional way for is and circumstances or situation sake.
THEIR SECRET PLACE ( CAMP SITE)
There are laws that govern these secret places and these laws must be adhere too. It’s a place where the plan activities of the day are thorough and proper.
It is a secret and TABU ( Holy) institution where the girls are thought by the mothers and grandmothers to become future mothers/ grandmothers, and are highly respected by them.
Boys above the age of 7 years and all men must never at any one moment undermine, dares to trespass or behaves unmanly such as to force his way in thus to all males ( 7 years and older) these places are highly respected to them “TABU” means “TABU”. Full Stop!!

The method, if not the words- due to cultural language dissolution course- slowly but could be fatal in any moment standards, have been put together, formulated and thoroughly tested by our ancestors.
They are the ones that did all the thorough searching, thinking, formulating and the continues testing of the words they gathered to achieve a desired product. “Traditional product”.
We owe them a great depth of gratitude. And by maintaining, sustaining and keeping such Traditional Cultural Activity is an honour to them, should one like to think. We would not be exact in how many thousands of years these Traditional Cultural Activities had been practiced and carefully pass down we can only assure our self that it certainly is one of the many Traditional Cultural Activities that have been formulated, practiced and adopted into the Culture of Life, preserve and pass down through generations till generation
We would like to thank them for our Cultural Language Formation which brought about the Activities of Value Invaluable for the maintenance and sustenance of life. Thus the significance of language in culture- emphasis on language- should be in the minds, conscious and subconscious for Activities Formation and Effective and Efficient Product Achievement.

THE BELIEFS OF OUR ANCESTORS
It was in the belief of our ancestor that one could attain to Higher Spiritual Dimension through Transformation.
There is only “ The Begin No End”. The Transformation of a Being is to a “more” or “ lesser” extend depend on direction of movement (Alignment) upward wise or downward wise. Everyone strives for adornment of the highest or lowest depending on movement wise. The final entity, at once finally alignment, is a Living Life. “A life that is living “.
A Life living obtains ultimate and absolute provision from the ultimate. The unknown and unseen “God”.
